Dear Students of the Class of 2021,
I hope this finds you healthy and adjusting as well as possible to remote learning and the disruption that the coronavirus has caused in our lives and in the world. These are stressful times for all of us. Although we are writing to you about an opportunity to be part of Interdisciplinary Senior Design next year, please know that we, and all the faculty and staff at Bucknell, are here to help you in whatever way we can.
As you are thinking about the future and in particular about pre-registration for the fall (pre-registration begins April 6th), we want to make you aware of the opportunity to participate in Interdisciplinary Senior Design (ENGR 452/453) this coming academic year (fall 2019/spring 2020). This coming year will be the sixth offering of the course. It is open to seniors across all departments in engineering (and dual-degree students in either their 4th or 5th year) as well as students in management.
Interdisciplinary Senior Design is an exciting course that offers you the chance to work in a team of students from several disciplines on a year-long project proposed by clients in industry. The experience of working in an interdisciplinary team will help you to develop valuable interpersonal and technical skills that will be directly transferable to your future. In addition, project mentors from industry will provide direct insights and connections to the work world as they meet with you weekly.
In advance of pre-registration there will be information sessions offered via Zoom at the following times:

Please plan to participate and hear what we have planned for next year’s course. We also hope to have current students be part of the presentation so that you have an opportunity to hear directly about their experiences.
Note that this course may count for your senior capstone experience. Please consult with your academic advisor to learn if this is the case for you.
