Wall Street Prep Financial & Valuation Modeling Seminar, October 22-23, 2022

Experiential Learning at Bucknell University will be hosting Wall Street Prep’s Financial Modeling seminar at on campus on the weekend of October 22-23, 2022. Classes will take place in Holmes Hall with breakfasts and lunches provided.

This intensive 2-day weekend seminar series is led by former investment bankers with applied expertise in financial modeling methodologies and bridges the gap between academics and the real world to equip students with the hands-on practical financial skills that they will need to excel during the recruiting process and on the job.

Twilio Challenge, Cash Prizes, Sign up TODAY!

This year we are pleased to bring back an opportunity to provide hands-on experiences to increase each student’s ability to solve problems in creative and collaborative ways by exploring design thinking mindsets and methods for identifying, developing, and delivering meaningfully differentiated solutions. 

Hosted by the new Case Analysis Student Group!

Twilio Challenge Details
Working with Twilio will provide Bucknell students with an incredible opportunity to develop and enhance their analytical, creative and professional skills in a real-world environment while working in a team of peers.  

Why should students be interested in this challenge?
Learning skills around how technology is tied into communication platforms will help students better understand business process functions.

Participants will: 
-Improve technological literacy
-Learn more about the developer / creative mindset
-Gain skills to enter the workforce/tech industry in a variety of roles
-Network with Twilio professionals, including several alums
-Earn an experience to add to a resume and portfolio

What is the challenge?
Teams will create a solution to a community issue, using the Twilio platform with technical mentors to help with code or using their no-code product, Studio. Teams will submit a video presenting the solution as a code snippet or a visual presentation of what they built. More specific details will be provided at the Challenge Launch once teams are formed. 

What’s involved?
-Individual students or already formed teams sign up by 11:59 PM on Sunday, March 6, 2022. Sign up here: https://forms.gle/YZnA318XrYGkYfPq6
(A team is  3-5 Bucknell University students representing at least 2 different majors. Individual sign-ups will be assigned to a team.)
-Confirmation email with details will be sent to the teams on March 8
-On March 7 at Noon or 6PM at least one member of each team (but ideally the entire team) will attend the Challenge Launch Zoom with Twilio to learn Challenge specific details for the deliverable  
-From March 10th-26th the teams will work on a video submission with guidance from Twilio developers and mentors
-Final video submissions are due on Friday, March 25th at 11:59pm
-On Friday, April 8, 8 AM at the breakfast of the Business Trends Summit, at least one member of each team (but ideally the entire team) will attend the awards presentation

Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three teams
1st Place: 1k
2nd Place: $500
3rd Place: $250

KPMG Ideation Challenge

A student challenge designed to stretch your limits | KPMG Ideation Challenge
Now is the chance for you to generate a new idea that could change the world using the power of your business, technology, and data and analytics knowledge. Students that compete in KIC will have the opportunity to go head-to-head against some of the brightest students across the country to solve for a challenge problem, create a prototype of a new idea and then pitch it to business leaders.

If successful, you’ll get the opportunity to compete in the live finals at KPMG Lakehouse and the winners will have the chance to attend our Global Advantage program this summer in Copenhagen.

This year’s challenge statement: Create an advanced and cost-effective solution that helps an economy, industry, community, or organization achieve carbon neutrality.

Who is eligible to apply?
Each team must have 4 to 6 members from the same school
Teams should have a mix of majors with at least one (1) accounting/CPA track student and one (1) technology major
Acceptable majors include Accounting, Business Administration, MIS, IT, CS, CIS, IS, and Computer Engineering
Teams must be multi-gendered
All students must be enrolled in a university program with a final graduation date (including plans to receive your 150 credit hours for accounting students) of May 2023 or later
All students must be currently authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future
Undergraduate and graduate students are eligible however, MBA, JD/LLM, and PhD students are not eligible
All team members must be fully vaccinated
All team members must have a GPA of a 3.01 or above 
We will review the challenge statement, team requirements, and general competition details during those two sessions.

How to Build a Professional Relationship and Network Luncheon, Friday, September 10, Noon-1PM

All past and present student participants in the Herd Mentorship Program (first year mentorship program) and all other students with interest are welcome to attend this luncheon on Friday, September 10 from Noon-1PM in Holmes Hall lobby. 

Lunch will be provided before remarks commence at 12:25.  David Granson ‘93 P’24, Managing Director at Goldman Sachs will speak to the audience with advice on building and nurturing professional relationships and networks.
Members of the Freeman College of Management Advisory Board will also be present to network with students.


Business casual attire is suggested, but not required.
